It might not seem suitable for summer, but seeing as September sees the end of Summer, I thought it would be advantageous to have a tweed jacket for various reasons. I find that it would be rather stylish to have, especially since I will be living in Seoul. So far, I have found the following "buy-worthy" tweed jackets. Of course, they are nothing like the real Chanel tweed jacket, but its likeness is worth the price I think. And, I have been looking for a tweed-like jacket in the city but to no avail.

2012 Korean Summer Fashion - Tweed jackets
Coco Chanel was the person who created the beautiful perfectly-cut tweed jacket for the sophisticated women. Years have gone by, and this classic piece of fashion item has withstood the years. I've never particularly warmed up to the tweed jacket fitting my image. I've always associated it to the more mature woman's way of fashion. However, what got my attention to how to looked dress down with a tweed jacket like the trademark Chanel tweed jacket was in Midnight in Paris. In one of the scenes, Rachel McAdam's character dons a beautiful short brown tweed jacket (most likely Chanel), a plain white shirt, and tight denim dark blue jeans. I did not particularly like the belt style hanging below the stomach, but her wardrobe was generally amazing. Most importantly, her fashion wardrobe was rather French-like.
Seoul subways... '-'
Although this picture does show a quiet and relaxed subway ride in Seoul, I have been told otherwise about how I should be careful. Not only should I keep a close and tight hold of my bag, I should also be wary that during peak hours, trains can get very packed. Some unruly people usually take this as an advantage to feel someone up. As excited as I am in my trip to Seoul in less than two weeks, I feel rather nervous at the thought of someone just feeling me in these weird and even unappropriate places when situations call for everyone to be stuck together like sardines in a can.

강남구
Less than three weeks are all the remains until I embark on my journey to Seoul. Comparing it to other countries I've been to, this trip will be especially exciting. First, it is where my boyfriend comes from, and to be able to see what Korea is like will certainly add all the more to my understanding of his home country. Second, I have only an amateur's knowledge of the Korean language. It will be interesting to see what happens when I am put in a situation where I am speaking to a person who doesn't know English. Third, South Korea has only just become such a hot destination for many younger people (this includes myself, I think). And fourth, like all my visits to other countries, this will be a whole new experience to me.
For four days, we will be situated in Gangnam-gu, a rather expensive neighbourhood in Seoul well-known for its endless designer shops, celebrity sightings, plastic surgery. Strangely enough, the hotel we booked at was cheaper than staying in Myeong-dong, a more active, vibrant, and youth-driven area, with just as much fashion retails and cafés in every corner. I've only just started making a broad itinerary of places to go. I've basically planned it out in a way that we will be spending one day in each district, one day in Gwanghwamun, the next day in Myeong-dong, Namsan, and Itaewon, and so on and so forth.
I really cannot believe that in 18 days (soon to be just 2 weeks) that I will be on another adventure. Ever since I finished my exchange in Seattle and was about to tour the east coast, I've found my love for experiencing new cultures and seeing new sights that I thought that I would never have had the chance to see in my lifetime. Now, Seoul is my next destination. I have no expectations, good or bad, for South Korea. The whole point of travelling to these new places is to be enlightened.

Tech Capital of the world ~ Seoul
I thought New York City's subway system was confusing, now I am perplexed on how I am going to be able to navigate myself through this complex subway system. But then, South Korea's renowned and reliable transportation system isn't called that for nothing.
It is daunting to know that you're heading to a city that's one of the most digitally-connected and technologically advanced cities in the world. Since the rise of the Chaebol corporations like Samsung and LG, technology is getting better and better by the month. My boyfriend studies electronic engineering, specialising in semiconductors. Hearing him talk about all those complex terms and equations gets me mind-boggled.
I've heard nothing but amazing things about Seoul. I met an Australian middle-aged man who had just returned from a two-week vacation in Seoul. He could not explain how amazing the city was. From the sheer size of the city, despite it being located in a very small country, to the amount of people who lived there, he was fascinated by everything. He's become so motivated to move there some day and work there, that he's taking Korean classes in the same class as me. So when you hear people and their countless stories of the fascinating and lively city that is Seoul, you get goosebumps and exhilarated at the fact that you will be there in two months. There are many things I have to prepare for this trip though. Obviously, language is the first and most important barrier to get rid of. Second, is getting a right foothold on all the places you want to go. I should make sure that most if not all the places I want to go to have been well-researched on. It's always good to be prepared, but not too much. It's always nice to leave space for spontaneity.
If Seoul, and on the whole South Korea, is as amazing as I expect it to be, I think I will be having a hard time putting myself back on that airplane back home. I leave you with inspiring photos of one of those great cities of Asia. Seoul.
Digital capital, indeed.
